Help Keep the Music Playing in Our Community
What makes our community a great place to live? Look at the vitality of the arts all around us – public arts and music festivals, professional dance, films, world-class museums and galleries, and your local symphony orchestra playing for nearly four decades – these are all visible reminders of the best of humanity. These are what quality of life is about and they are the vital signs of a strong community. A great community.
One of the reasons this is a great place to live is because people like you make it that way. You adapt to your community, but it adapts to you, too. If you want great orchestral music in your town, you can make that happen. If you want the future to have these values, you invest in our children. You can do these and more by supporting the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra with your gifts, your time, and your advocacy.
Take a moment now to think about the ways you can keep the music playing for you, your neighbors and the coming generations. Your gift may be for today, or for the future. This is your home. And the Whatcom Symphony is your orchestra.
Support the Orchestra Today
The Whatcom Symphony Orchestra performs music from all ages to inspire audiences of all ages.
Your support of the WSO Annual Fund sustains our artistic excellence and keeps the music playing. You help us attract acclaimed guest artists, build our music library, maintain our instruments and equipment, bring music to new audiences, and much more. In short, you keep the WSO growing as one of the finest community orchestras in the Pacific Northwest.
Gifts to our WSO Outreach Fund maintain our unique in-school music programs (Musicians in the Schools and Beethoven in the Schools), our Instrument Loan Program, and special performances for children and families. We believe every child can benefit from exposure to great music, and you can ensure that they have the opportunity.

Support the Orchestra in the Future
One reason we are drawn to classical music is its timeless nature; great music reaches to us across years and even centuries. Each year, we ask you to support the orchestra so we can continue to keep this music playing. But through your estate planning, you can help the Whatcom Symphony, like the music we play, continue to thrive beyond our lifetimes.
There are many ways to keep this legacy strong, regardless of your means. For example, through our partnership with the Whatcom Community Foundation, you can support the Whatcom Symphony Endowment Fund with your will or living trust. Your bequest language can be as simple as:
“I hereby give to the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund of the Whatcom Community Foundation, a Washington not-for-profit corporation with its principal place of business at Bellingham, Washington: The sum of $_____ and/or the following described property_____ and/or _____% of the residue of my estate.”
Most important, you have someone to talk with about your options. The professionals of the Whatcom Community Foundation and the symphony can discuss gifts of cash, stock, real property such as your residence, and a host of other assets.
If you notify the Whatcom Symphony with your intention of a planned gift, you will become a member of our Legacy Society. In turn, your contributions will build the Whatcom Symphony’s endowment and assure future generations will be able to enjoy classical music in their lives.
